In Premier League Matchday 7, Chelsea secured a 2-0 away victory against Everton, during which Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez was stretchered off following a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite.

Martínez's head CT scan, along with examinations of his back and neck, yielded clear results; however, he sustained a bone injury to his jaw that required him to remain hospitalized for observation and treatment.

According to reporter César Luis Merlo, Martínez is undergoing surgery for a fractured jaw and will be sidelined for at least 40 days, rendering him unavailable for both Chelsea and Argentina.

Martínez joined Chelsea from Aston Villa this summer, making six appearances and conceding 11 goals, having failed to record a clean sheet in his first five outings for the Blues.

Against Everton, Martínez made four saves to keep a clean sheet before being carried off on a stretcher in the 75th minute following the collision.
